2021.12.02 13:00 autotldr Researchers from Arizona State University and Cardiff University have made the link between rare blood clots and the Astra-Zeneca and Johnson and Johsnon COVID-19 vaccines
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 47%. (I'm a bot)
Scientists believe they may have the answer as to why some coronavirus vaccines are associated with extremely rare cases of blood clots.
A number of European countries halted the use of AstraZeneca's vaccine earlier this year due to reports of rare blood clotting events, while earlier this week Slovenia stopped the use of Johnson & Johnson for good following the death of a 20-year-old woman in September.
A team of researchers from Arizona State University and Cardiff University says the rare blood clot condition, termed vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia, "Only happens in extremely rare cases because a chain of complex events needs to take place to trigger this ultra-rare side effect".
The paper explains that the cause of VITT in extremely rare cases could be down to the adenovirus used in the vaccines - which carries genetic information into cells - and the immune response to this.
"We hope our findings can be used to better understand the rare side effects of these new vaccines - and potentially to design new and improved vaccines to turn the tide on this global pandemic," Professor Alan Parker, an expert in the use of adenoviruses for medical applications from Cardiff University's School of Medicine, said.
The team hypothesised that in rare cases the adenovirus may then bind to a certain protein called platelet factor 4, which triggers an immune reaction.

2021.12.02 13:00 geoboy_12 Hi I am from India and I think Nigeria and India have so much in common
Hello , after visiting this sub and lurking on it(since i am on a reddit countries sub world tour lol) , One thing i have noticed is how similar Nigeria and India are, the problems and everything. The tribalistic mentality of people, chaotic cities, corruption , and everything. It's really sad how both countries have so much potential but it gets all wasted in this smh. I honestly i have no idea when people will leave their tribalistic narrow mindedness mentality behind and work for common development. Not realizing that their tribalistic mentality only benefits corrupt politicians to spread divisiveness. It's just sad. British colonialism has really seeped in a lot of division and hatred in minds of people against each other which will take long to go away.
Anyways good luck and you can ask me anything!

2021.12.02 13:00 Select_Copy_3612 Base raiding
As you can tell from my post history, still very new to the game. (80 hrs of play time) so bear with me here...
Me and my friends built a "base" just SW of Polana and really we double gated a barn with locks on both gates and had a tent and some wooden crates in there to keep food and meds and ammo an shit.
Anyway we logged off for the night came back the next day in the afternoon and we had been raided, everything was gone.
We think we found the group that took our stuff and are currently trying to find out how to get into their base. All wooden walls and 1 gate with a 4dial combo lock on the entrance gate. I was under the impression I could hacksaw the lock off but I wasn't getting the prompt so we started swinging sledge at the gate. We went through 3 sledge hammers and 3 hatchets and just broke the top section of the gate.... is there a better way to do this? I don't imagine it should take 6+ sledge hammers to get through one gate.
TLDR; Need tips on what tools I need to raid a simple base and the estimated time needed.
